History

1. Sinclair Super Station

   It was considered a “master” or “super” service station, which provided drivers full service options such as refueling, fluid checks, tire, tube and engine maintenance, and even a car wash by attendants. Along the Mother Road, this type of Sinclair service station was popular and easily recognizable due to their standardized architectural style — a Spanish Eclectic design with white stucco walls, green tiled roof, large pillars and decorative arches. A canopy covered the service bay and featured green decorative tile and Sinclair signage. The service station had many owners over the years, who leased it out to a variety of operators. The station remained affiliated with Sinclair until the late 1950s and remained a service station until the early 1970s. Despite various owners, very little alterations have been made to the building except updated garage doors and the removal of the gas pumps. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. It is an excellent example of Sinclair Mission-style stations heavily developed during the 1930s.
